Hello, dear fellow travelers!
We arrived here safely yesterday after tiring flights and picked up our car (see title image). We spent the night at a campsite in Windhoek, and in the morning we shopped in a huge shopping center for the first few days. Then we were off…
We have been standing at a police station for 4 hours. Why? After a total of 60 km of driving, we had an accident! We and another car were driving behind a truck, Wilfried signaled and started to overtake, which the car behind us apparently did a bit faster. In any case, we collided with each other broadside. It's nothing dramatic - just some bodywork damage - but the bureaucracy here is unbelievable! The accident happened at 1:30 PM, and now at 4:30 PM, we are finally done filling out forms, forms, forms. Each with a carbon copy.
Fortunately, nothing happened to us! We are also very well insured, so we are taking the whole situation relatively calmly. 😅
We are now waiting for the driver from AVIS (our car rental). He is supposedly bringing us a new car - we'll see…. Then unpack and head to the next campsite!
It's exciting! But we were really lucky with our accident counterpart - we handled everything very matter-of-factly, and she thanked us in the end and said she was very pleased to have met us!
Keep your fingers crossed for us!
