Hoofs, Hips, Flamenco – My Horse Adventure in Málaga at El Ranchito

Published: 26.10.2025

After two exciting days filled with impressions from Cádiz and Lisbon, we finally arrived in Málaga (Spain) at the berth 'Atraque Note Pier' on October 17, 2025. Málaga is picturesque along the Costa del Sol and is particularly famous for its sun, beach, tapas – and of course, a bit of culture cannot be missed.

With pleasantly mild temperatures, I headed straight to the riding club 'El Ranchito'. This equestrian center is not just any horse club: it is filled with dedication, patience, and love for the gentle four-legged creatures. The experienced trainers ensure that one can not only improve their dressage skills but also open their heart to horses – mission 'horse love' accomplished!

The highlight of the day: the extraordinary show 'Ritmo a Caballo'. A true horse ballet full of rhythm, music, discipline, and beauty. The choreography combines classical dressage with western riding – all accompanied by Spanish music and traditional Andalusian costumes. Hooves clatter, skirts swirl, and one wonders whether they have landed in a theater or on a riding arena.

By the way, 'El Ranchito' was founded back in the 1940s. In 1982, José González took over the present club 'El Ranchito I' – and since then, everything here revolves around horses, shows, and Andalusians, presented in various training stages. And as if that weren't enough, there was of course also a typical flamenco – hooves, hips, and castanets included!

Horse love? Check. Culture? Check. Fun? Double-check!
