The greatest challenge before the journey begins...
I have looked at various packing lists, countless videos, and other information on the internet to get an idea of what is needed for this type of trip.
In the end, I realized that everyone has personal preferences for gear, etc., and while I can orient myself to that, there is no 'perfect' packing list.
I set myself the goal of taking a maximum of 7kg. When I tested packing today, it was exactly 7kg, but without water. This means an additional 1-2kg will be added, depending on food availability on the way.
Since I have never traveled there and don't know how the equipment in the pilgrim shelters is exactly, I can't avoid taking a summer sleeping bag as well as a hut sleeping bag.
For rain gear, I opted for a large rain cape that goes over the backpack. If it should be very warm despite the rain, I will only pack the backpack and not myself, as skin dries the fastest.
For footwear, I prioritize comfort and variety - since I always have issues with the fit of hiking shoes, I ultimately decided on running shoes. Additionally, I am taking my barefoot shoes and flip-flops with me (both are lightweight). With the right socks (wrightsocks), I hope to avoid blisters as much as possible.
I packed clothing for 2-3 days (also depending on temperature). This means that I will likely wash something every day after arriving.
I am curious how my conclusion will turn out in the end - whether I would pack everything the same way again or not, and how my back will fare ;-)
