On the way to our next stop, we more or less blindly follow the shortest route of the navigation system. This was, God knows, not the best decision we have made so far on the trip. From the asphalt road, we went onto a hilly gravel road. The last house long behind us and into the mountainous world of the coastal region, the potholes slowly increase. Potholes turn into fully developed craters, even deep longitudinal cracks through which we have to whip the Mitsubishi. The repayment of the deposit for the camper is becoming more distant. The mood in the car is tense. However, there is agreement that this is the wrong way, but going back is just as impossible due to the lack of turning options, like a pothole that is looking for its equal and almost disassembles our camper. The fact that the following underbody grinding is only due to the lost spare tire brings us relief, as we can already see the deposit for the camper bouncing around in the potholes. After another kilometer, we can finally turn around, so that we can drive the whole way back with bated breath and even more adrenaline. Definitely unbelievable but so far true, we have managed to maneuver the car to Matanzas, our next stop and a well-known surf spot, in one piece.
At the present time, we cannot make any statements about long-term damage. With a delay of over 2 hours, we finally reach the planned destination and meet several kiters for the first time, which means we are no longer alone in the water - yay.
The spot offers kickers and waves up to 3.5 meters high, which excites Luki. Kathrin, with her 6sqm kite and the high waves, is having a harder time there ;-)
