Quebec City and the expanses of the St. Lawrence River

Imechapishwa: 25.04.2018

The alarm clock went off very early because there was a lot on the agenda for the day. I had only allocated one day for Quebec, so it was important to see as much as possible today. After breakfast at the hotel, I took the bus towards the city. The old town of Quebec is located on a hill and is surrounded by a city wall. The bus dropped me off right in front of one of the large city gates, and I walked through the streets and admired the architecture. The old town of Quebec is very beautiful, with a lot of construction and renovation going on, but it still has a very special atmosphere. From the old town, you have a breathtaking view of the St. Lawrence River. Today, there were several container ships on the river, and I stood in the sun for 30 minutes just watching the ships. In the old town, the Fairmont Le Chateu Frontenac stands out, according to the travel guide, it was once the most photographed hotel in the world. Today, I added some more photos. This hotel was also where the D-Day was planned during World War II. Gives you goosebumps. After walking several rounds through the old town and also visiting the highest point of the citadel, I went down the stairs to the harbor. I took another big round there and kept looking up at the hotel. In the early afternoon, I took the bus back to my accommodation. I had to plan and book the next few days, and I also had to get a haircut and shave, which I hadn't done in a long time. The next few days will be characterized by long car drives. I have to cover a total of about 1200 kilometers in the next two days. The goal is the Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia. It's possible that you won't hear from me for one or two days now. But I think that at the latest when I have driven the Cabot Trail (one of the most beautiful coastal roads in the world), I will get in touch again with pictures and text material.
