Our trip to Machu Picchu was a beautiful journey. We woke up very early in the morning, so we were already at the bus stop by 6 o'clock. There, all the tourists were divided into several buses and we drove for about 1.5 hours to the train station. On the way, we stopped at a viewpoint with a few market stalls. At eight o'clock, we arrived at the overcrowded train station. Since we still had half an hour until our train departed, we had a quick coffee at the train station café.

The train ride lasted another 1 hour and 45 minutes, but it went by so fast. The train had huge windows on the sides and also on the ceiling. This provided a great view of the breathtaking landscape through the valley. Additionally, there was coffee and a small snack.

When we finally arrived at our destination, we were initially a bit surprised. We were basically in a small tourist town with numerous restaurants, hotels, and stalls.

To finally reach Machu Picchu, we had to take a shuttle bus for another half an hour up a winding road on the mountain.

After about 4 hours, we finally reached our destination and were allowed to spend four hours on the site with our ticket. It was impressive to see the old Inca city in the middle of the mountain ridge from above. Tourists were everywhere, taking pictures, and of course, there were also a few llamas ready for a photoshoot. This time even for free =)

We strolled around for a while, admired the old structure, and enjoyed the view and the breathtaking landscape. Of course, this trip was again one of the absolute highlights of our journey, and I can hardly describe the feeling of standing up there!!

After the visit, we sat in the adjacent restaurant for some time until we took the shuttle bus back down to the town. Just like how we arrived, we had to come back the same way. Even though it was a long and tiring day, and not exactly cheap, we proudly checked off another item from our wish list =)
