Day 8 Tromsø-Lofoten

MIVOAKA: 22.08.2020

Today was the first day that wasn't a lot of fun. As you can see from the driving data, I sat on the saddle for almost 8 hours.

At least half of that time was spent in pouring rain and stormy gusts.

The reason for this very long stage is quite simple. In Tromsø, I met a group of German motorcyclists who recommended taking the route to Andenes, which required the use of 2 ferries. Once from Brensholmen to Botnhamn, which worked smoothly, as the picture above shows. Unfortunately, it didn't work with the second ferry that should have started from Gryllefjord. I arrived there around noon and the ferry, which according to my app was supposed to come at 3:00 pm, was canceled without replacement due to the change to the winter schedule, and the next one was not scheduled to come until 7:00 pm.

So I decided to take the overland route, which ended up taking almost 7 hours. In the afternoon, the first showers started. I arrived in Svolvær shortly after 7:00 pm. Just before that, I booked an affordable hotel during a stop, which turned out to be a stroke of luck. The room was unusually spacious.

From the window, I saw a pub diagonally opposite, which I went to straight after a super hot shower. The day ended better than expected. They were showing the Champions League final between Bayern and PSG there. I had a very delicious Skrei soup for the first time, had 2 beers, and Bayern won the final. Everything was good again!
