Tauranga is a city in the northeastern part of New Zealand. It is part of the 'Bay of Plenty'. This city seems to host an oversized port, considering its size. Thousands of containers line the shore of the sea. When we arrived, we were quite amazed.
We traveled from Coromandel to Tauranga via Wilson Bay, which took us just under three and a half hours! Although the distance is less than 160km, we were forced to drive most of the route at a maximum speed of 80km/h due to numerous tight curves!
Of course, the highlight of this day trip was Mount Manganui. This mountain is located at the end of the city and is surrounded by the seawater of the adjacent bay.
Unfortunately, we only hiked for 1 hour, once around the mountain. There was no more hiking to do as the paths to the top of the mountain were closed, which was a shame! After what felt like 2 km, we arrived back at the car, completely wet from the rain that accompanied us the whole time!
