Cinque Terre
Yesterday we visited the Cinque Terre. Those who know will know, those that don’t; they are a series of five villages perched on the hillside on a large curved section of coast....

Tuesday was billed as a full day of rain, but having managed to sit out in “not rain” we realised that it was actually going to be on and off and the weather forecast was a bit pessimistic. Emboldened by this decision we visited a local mountain-top, medieval village, via a pet shop for more probiotics for the dogs, plus a new lead and harness for Betsy (with a small Italian flag on it, which I love).
The weather held so we decided to balls-out go to Pisa. We sat in the car park for maybe 20 minutes to allow a torrential downpour to finish, then we had a lovely couple of hours wandering round. We resisted the “hand holding up the tower” pictures, but were sorely tempted to high-five those that were doing it. Pisa is really a one trick pony, albeit a cool trick, so we were out of there and then decided to go to Lucca. We had a lovely walk round there and a beer at a cafe, but we think maybe 2 places, 3 if you count the small village, is too much for one day.
It was then back to the house for tea and an early night as we were all knackered. Betsy was up several times in the night with a “tum tum” so we’ve had a lazy start to today.
Romeo popped in this morning to bring us some homemade jam and to advise that he’d be delivering to the bottom door a bag of wood pellets for the heater, and through the medium of mime, showing me how to load it in to the boiler.
We’ve planned where we are going next, Lago Di Trasemino, and for the rest of the day we may visit a local mountaintop castle/village.
The last picture is a random one of Betsy at the window half way up the stairs.
