A day of rest
I’m catching up on posts and today is Saturday (we travelled on Friday). We had a lazy start, did some laundry, and then strolled in to Bot, along a disused railway line. This...

I’ve missed quite a few days, too much relaxing, so here’s a quick run through what we’ve been up to since Saturday.
Sunday was a rest day in Bot. We wandered in to the town, along the disused railway line, and had a coffee at the “railway” bar which includes a converted railway carriage. The view from the table across the valley to the mountains/hills was a delight.
Monday was a travel day, and we headed back to Fitou, just in France. We’d stayed at this site on the way done but abandoned it after a night because it was too windy to walk, put the poptop up or to get the awning out.
Fitou was lovely, except for the mosquitoes which were vicious and tenacious little f##kers. Jane is always first to be bitten, and so it was this time, so she became a one woman mozzie exterminator. Getting the ones who had feasted (on someone’s blood) was not the prettiest sight, but a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do!
Tuesday we had a half day in Narbonne, which was delightful. Lovely pedestrianised squares and a river through the middle. We then headed to Narbonne Plage, some 20 km away, to have lunch on the sand. Winnie loved it. Betsy just wanted a bit of shade to call home.
Wednesday was a lazy day in camp. We walked the dogs to the lake, wading through the waterlogged tunnel under the railway tracks to reach waterside. Winnie had a swim of course. Betsy didn’t. Luckily there was a bit of a breeze, enough to keep most of the mozzies away
Thursday was travel day again and we headed for the Ardeche Gorge. The site we picked is €24 per night and is delightful. We are camped about 50m from the river and have already had a swim, except Betsy, who sat it out again.
