Another day of travel
We spent most of today travelling. We have solidified our plans now to fit round the busy Easter Weekend traffic. Long day today to get nearly to Spanish border, then a day of...

It has been a day of ups and downs. It started badly, went uphill, went downhill a bit, then ended on a high high!
Our goal had been to have a rest day today, but when we woke up, it had been windy all night and in to the morning, so we couldn’t put out roof up or the awning out. Even walking was not much fun. The prospect of a day in the van counting the dead flies on the windscreen did not appeal, so we made the decision to travel instead, take the miles and rest tomorrow. We were therefore on the road at 6.55am, just to sit at the exit barrier of the site which didn’t open until 7am.
Once on the road we made really good distance, and with ChatGPT telling us that the roads would get busy around 10am, we were looking for a site for 2 nights on the coast. This is where the day took a dip. The first site was full, the second was like a Red Cross refugee camp (no slur intended on Red Cross refugees), so we parked by the sea, had lunch and a walk, then regrouped to find a site. We decided near the sea on The Easter weekend was a hiding to nothing, so looked inland and hit gold with the Blue House Camp, run by a Geordie who has definitely found his slice of heaven. We are currently sat out in shorts and t-shirt, drinking beer and having a few crisps. The site has about a dozen other campers, and the view out is fruit trees with mountains behind. Lovely.
Tomorrow is a rest day, no idea what we will do but it will be fun and chilled. Hope your long weekend has started well.
