JAIPUR
So we set off from Delhi to Jaipur with our driver Johnny. Since the temperatures had reached 45 degrees by now, we were very happy to continue our journey in an air-conditioned car. The morning traffic out of the city is really extreme, as many companies and their offices are located outside Delhi. There are up to 15!!! lanes here. We had a moment of terror when a bus suddenly turned in the middle of the highway, blocking all 3 lanes. Thanks to Johnny's relaxed driving style, but above all his driving skills, worse was prevented. Even here, cows or goats have no hesitation in crossing the highway. As it is not surprising, accidents occur very frequently. What is called wrong-way driving with us, we also experienced several times. It really doesn't seem to bother anyone as long as nothing happens. ;)
Finally, in the late afternoon, we finally arrived in Jaipur. The old town, called Pink City, is surrounded by a pink city wall, within which there are numerous bazaars and most of the sights.
Particularly unusual is the fairytale-like Hawa Mahal or Palace of the Winds made of pink sandstone.
Also very impressive is the Jantar Mantar, an observatory that at first glance appears more like a modern art museum.
Located nearby on a rocky hillside, we visited Amber Fort. In the morning, many tourists like to be taken up there on the back of an elephant. For us, that was definitely not an option.
The Jal Mahal, the water palace, is also very beautiful.
Pretty young couples like from Bollywood ;) were also there
