Luang Prabang, as mentioned before, is the old royal city. The architecture and the many cafes clearly show that Laos was a former French colony.
We treated ourselves to a nice accommodation, which was cheap and available thanks to the low season. We really enjoy traveling in the low season because it allows us to book buses and accommodations spontaneously and the markets, restaurants, and tourist attractions are not overcrowded.
We also rented a scooter and went to the Kung Si Waterfalls. The waterfalls consist of many small basins with shimmering turquoise water, which have formed naturally. If you climb all the way up, you will be rewarded with a view of the largest waterfall.
Next stop is Vang Vieng.
