2nd day Saturday, December 27, 2014, Huay Xay / Bokeo - Laos

Hello,

Here I am, finally on the Mekong in Huay Xay / Bokeo in Laos.

And when you consider that almost everyone who is here will start tomorrow with the boat on the Mekong towards Luang Prabang. Then I wonder where are they all? It's really strange, the restaurants on the roadside, the small shops, they are all reasonably filled. But maybe it's like that here in Laos. Most people say Laos is much more relaxed than Thailand and that's what it looks like at first glance, and it would be desirable to see what the further journey shows.

Now 3 words about the journey, I wrote yesterday wrong bus terminal and little comfort because cheap and so on. Well, I have to say it's good that way, it couldn't have been better. This morning, just arrived at bus terminal 1 in Chiang Rai, I should get on board directly and off we went, no waiting time of 2 minutes.

The journey itself was perfect and relaxed, within 2 hours it went from Chiang Rai to Chiang Khong, or rather, just before Chiang Khong. There I was told to get off and continue directly with the tuk-tuk for 35 baht / 5 km to the border with Laos. And since everything went smoothly there too, I immediately continued with the bus for 20 baht to the other side of the Mekong, checked in quickly in Laos and continued with the tuk-tuk to Huay Xay.

So all in all, a perfect trip!!!

Then I quickly checked out Huay Xay. That went relatively quickly because it is actually more of a transit city, as already mentioned, for people with the boat to and from Luang Prabang.

So now let me enjoy my Lao Beer in peace, you will hear from me again soon..
