Rainy Day today. Today was the first day of travel from Christchurch south into the interior of the country towards the Southern Alps with the destination Lake Tekapo. We will stay here for two nights. First, after breakfast, we visited the earthquake museum in Christchurch, where the events of the 2010 and 2011 earthquakes were depicted. Very interesting. - On the way, we made a stop in Geraldine for a small snack and once again bought merino clothes - like crazy, but all the sheep here need to be dressed by us. If you like merino, you have to come to New Zealand! There were always beautiful photo opportunities along the route, and finally, the turquoise Lake Tekapo, which will undoubtedly be even more beautiful tomorrow in the sun. Despite feeling like 1000 tourists, we managed to photograph THE photo subject here, the Church of the Good Shepherd, without any people. By the way, the lake is so turquoise because particles from the glacier have been detached here. Another remarkable fact: Lake Tekapo is one of the places in the world where you can see the clearest starry sky. This is due to its special location, as there is no light pollution here. We are staying at the Lake Tekapo Lodge - it could be worse.
