Welcome in Brauhaus!

Pubblicato: 28.05.2023

A very good day to my dear fellow human beings:),

right now I'm enjoying the warm Pentecost sun in Bari❤️. I've been at sea for six weeks now and today I jumped into the sea for the first time. In line with the beautiful weather, I would like to take you on a little love story. Together we go back to January 4, 2023. That was the day I met Anne for the first time. Why I'm telling you this and how this story also shapes my journey, I would like to share with you. Life does write its own stories. Anne and I had an incredibly beautiful time and were even able to spend a weekend together at the North Sea. Of course, I had in mind that my application to AIDA was still pending. At that moment, however, I pushed that thought aside. On March 3rd, I received my contract. On the one hand, I was happy and on the other hand, I knew that time was running out for me and that I would only be in Germany for one more month before embarking on a 4.5-month journey. One thing you can believe me, telling my flatmates that I have to give up my room or giving notice to my employer was nothing compared to having to tell Anne that our time together will be shorter than the time I will soon be away. However, one good thing is that after my time, I will return to my home, right where Anne also lives. The farewell was particularly difficult and so many tears were shed.

At this point, I would like to thank my family, friends, and all the people from Warendorf (who have now become family) once again. I am fully enjoying my time here and the best thing is knowing that when I land back in Germany on August 24th, I will be welcomed with open arms. Mama and Bernd are getting married, many of my best friends live in Osnabrück, have a coffee by the Hessel River with Marion and Verena, a week in Sweden with Bernd, camping with Anne, many other moments that I am very grateful for and look forward to experiencing with you!

Welcome in Brauhaus! That's how Andy greeted me in Brauhaus. Andy is from Indonesia. You will probably hear the name more often. So after lying in my cabin on my first day, looking at the ceiling and thinking what am I doing here, I mustered up and decided to explore the ship. After many attempts to find the restaurant where I would spend most of my journey, as I was assigned to work there, I actually found my way. So there I stood and introduced myself to all my colleagues and warned them in advance that as of tonight, I would be their new companion. Before becoming a host, I took a seat as a guest and had a currywurst.

After exploring the ship and already having the pleasure of getting to know some of my colleagues, I felt a little more comfortable and looked forward to my first shift at Brauhaus. I started at 6:00 pm and also met my supervisor Denise right away. You will hear that name more often as well. These people were all strangers to me at the time and since then, very beautiful friendships have developed from them. There were currently 10 people working at Brauhaus. Mainly many Filipinos and Indonesians. Maxime is the only German with me. I have already had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with each and every one of them, both professionally and personally.

The first day ended at 1:30 am and I fell into bed overwhelmed by all the impressions.
