Ero curioso riguardo all'infiltrazione del Danubio.
L'ho trovato all'Hotel Waldblick poco fuori Donaueschingen, molto tranquillo e rilassante. 🛏️😴

**Route: 93 kilometres, cumulative: 2,026 kilometres | Altitude gain: 490 m, cumulative altitude gain: 8,139 m, distance from home: 92 kilometres (as the crow flies)**
Am I sad now, or am I shouting with joy? I have reason for both. Sad because a wonderful journey is coming to an end. Joy at having achieved the goals I set. I visited Gery and Heidi, I did a large loop through Hungary, I cycled the entire Danube Cycle Path and discovered beautiful places and captured many impressions of diverse landscapes. And most importantly: I reached the source of the Danube healthy and without any accidents.
It was a great journey, during which I also crossed the two-thousand-kilometre mark exactly today.
A few times I did stages of over or nearly one hundred kilometres. And every day I got fitter. That’s a good thing, because one single long stretch still lies ahead of me. My ride home from the Feldberg is also over 110 kilometres.
When you see a route like that all at once, you think it's almost impossible. But if you only ever see small sections of it, you manage it bit by bit and have a sense of achievement every time that motivates you to tackle the next one. Just like Beppo the street sweeper in Momo, the children's book by Michael Ende.
As my last host already told me, the first 30 kilometres today were particularly varied. The path was flat but, like the Danube, wound its way through the valley, which was often characterised by high cliffs. That was the compromise for avoiding many meters of elevation as an alternative. Riding through these landscapes was pure pleasure. Even when the paths were often unpaved.
Then it became more open, but remained mostly flat with a few small hills that I had to overcome. Then I passed through small and larger towns. The most famous of these was certainly Tuttlingen, where I had my lunch break.
I was excited about the Danube Sinkhole. You can find details about this on an information board in the photos. Apparently, it is a globally unique phenomenon.
The Danube doesn't actually have its own source. There are two streams that are named the Danube from their confluence onwards. Therefore, there is an artificially created source in Donaueschingen, which I, of course, also visited and photographed.
After that, I finally had to look for accommodation. I found it at the Hotel Waldblick just outside Donaueschingen, but very quiet and relaxing. 🛏️😴
