Stage 1 from Bocholt to Neuss

After various circumstances made a longer bike ride doubtful beforehand, the doubts gradually disappeared and the trip to Lourdes could begin.

Armed with the packing list from our last, bigger adventure (Medjugorje, there is also a blog on Vakantio), we went about rummaging through or obtaining all the utensils; the bikes had to be brought up to scratch, everything had to be packed into the bags and these had to be attached to the bike. This morning we went to the Holy Mass at St. Georg in Bocholt;

With Father Hembrocks's travel blessing in our luggage (it still fit) we set off - and how: tailwind! The first destination was Neuss, where we visited our son and his wife and had a very nice evening.

In Neuss there is a shooting festival, and we stumbled upon a huge parade with 7800 marksmen, many brass bands, and marching bands - a colorful and joyful event after 2 years of abstinence due to Corona!

By the way: the award for the best bike paths so far goes to the city of Rheinberg - denture wearers may feel discriminated against...
