Volcano bathing

Pubblicato: 17.08.2018

Today we went volcano bathing. Yes... bathing in a volcano, in volcanic mud. After spending what felt like an eternity in a packed minibus, we finally arrived at the volcano. The volcano was extremely small and had a 3x3 meter hole with mud on top (Comment by Cony: 'Yes, but maximum 3x3m.'). We couldn't move in the thick mud, so we had to be 'transported' by Colombians. First, we got a massage, which was very, very strange. In the mud hole where we spent the next half hour, we were packed like sardines - not for people with claustrophobia or a fear of touch. We still couldn't really move on our own. If we wanted to go from one place to another, the other people had to push, pull, and shove us. A funny experience... also according to the Colombians who looked down from above and probably wondered why the tourists ('Gringos') spend so much money to bathe completely squeezed in dirt. After the 'bath', we were taken to a lake where Colombian women freed us from the mud with buckets of water. And again: they had no fear of touch. They didn't even ask, they simply washed us from head to toe. You don't pay attention for a second and boom: Cony's bikini top was gone... okay?! Now we're at the hostel and we stink... even after the shower. But yes, apparently it's good for the skin and it was definitely amusing. Just a little bit WTF!
