Sunday in Vreden started with a delicious breakfast, which great-grandma supplemented with fresh rolls from the bakery with the dogs. The table was not only filled with filled plates, but also the family members slowly joined in and the sunny schedule could be implemented. Ralf and Malina had tickets for the show of the Ehrlich-Brothers in Cologne. The rest of us wanted to take a bike tour to Winterswijk, also with Luca. Since Andre had checked all the bikes together with Ralf the day before and had cycled from Ottenstein with two bikes at the same time, we only had to attach Luca's bike trailer and off we went. Without much effort, Daniela has an elegant pedelec, and there was no headwind or hills to overcome, we crossed the border. You only notice it because of the signage. After about 11 kilometers, we arrived in the quiet town of Winterswijk and enjoyed strolling through the streets and squares. Otherwise, Winterswijk is only a place for Daniela to shop cheaply in Holland, she also discovered some new corners. This was rounded off with ice cream on the market square, but the massive wasp plague shortened the break. However, we made up for it on the way home at a winery. In the garden, under dense, shade-giving trees, we made ourselves comfortable and observed which type of grass Luca liked best. Wonderful: we ate the typical Dutch bitterballen and Luca ate the green, juicy grass. When we were all back home, Luca and the dogs kept us and the unhappy neighbors busy. But with the tasty meal of pizza rolls (bread halves topped with cheese and filled with fried ground meat!), peace slowly returned. I retired tired and full.
