After almost five hours on the bus, during which not everyone could keep their meal down - luckily I had my music in my ears and didn't hear any gagging noises - we arrived in Phan Thiet at 6:00 pm. Our hotel was right on the beach and turned out to be a popular destination for Russian tourists. That same evening, we rented a motorbike and immediately explored the beach promenade.
I woke up the next morning with a sore throat and a stuffed nose. Thanks, air conditioning! Nevertheless, after breakfast, we set out to explore the city and the harbor. The harbor impressed me, with what felt like a thousand boats, all beautifully lined up, waiting for their mission. In the side streets, the smell was a mixture of fish, rotting garbage, freshly washed laundry, and delicious food. The people were very friendly and happy about our brief visit.
We exclusively visited Phan Thiet to relax for two days and do nothing. Nevertheless, we visited the red sand dunes and drove through Mui Ne, which is the real tourist hotspot on this coast. One resort follows the other and tourists flock to the countless shops located directly on the main road. Mui Ne is the mecca for kite, wind, and wave surfers. We spent half a day there and sunbathed by the pool in the afternoon. We really didn't do much and were quite lazy. But we have gained new strength for the remaining six weeks, which we are really looking forward to 😍
