Day 21 (September 21)
After a breakfast without muesli, we started hiking towards Passo di Pian del Latte. By accident, we did not all take the same path up and only met again at the pass. The climb led through old beech and alder forests, which bore many fruits and gave the slopes a red autumn dress.
On the pass, we had spaghetti and a well-deserved break. When the fog crept over the ridge and the first drops fell, we hurriedly continued and walked down on a mountain road. The rain stopped temporarily, only to unleash its full force on us half an hour later. Finally, we could properly test our rain gear. Most of it held up, and especially the umbrellas proved their worth.
After about two hours of hiking in the rain, during which we walked through enchantingly mystical beech forests that were like caves in the rain, we arrived at Passo Teglia. We would have liked to hitchhike, but unfortunately, no cars passed by.
After a rest and crisis meeting in a goat barn, we took the road downhill. Until San Bernardino di Conio, we only encountered one car, but it did not want to give us a ride. So we completed the whole way on foot and arrived quite exhausted after almost eight hours of hiking.
However, the rain had stopped by then, and finally, we saw the sea! Alex and Simi found a great spot with a view of the sea on the edge of the rather ugly and deserted village. We made a fire and cooked a very delicious risotto after everyone was satisfied again.
