Highlight of the day: Fribourg is much more beautiful than I had thought.
After a wonderfully peaceful and restful night, I had a hearty breakfast at Habeggers BnB. It was already 08:15 when I finally set off. Today, I had a tour for which I didn't really have a proper plan. I didn't know which way to take and for the first time, I hadn't booked any overnight accommodation.
Fribourg is a beautiful city that I have greatly underestimated so far. Please take a look at the photos that show the diversity of the historically significant buildings.
The Sarine River has carved deep into the sandstone over thousands of years, forming many curves. This means there is no easy and straight path out of the city. In addition, the differences in elevation are very large and there are constant ups and downs. It wasn't until about 2 hours later that I felt like the city was now behind me.
After that, I walked through many beautiful and diverse landscapes. Today, I was also walking on the Jakobsweg (Pilgrimage Route) again. It led me to Ecuvillens, where I was able to buy some things at the village store. Outside the village, I came across the regional airport where some planes were practicing takeoffs and landings. This brought back many fond memories of the flights I used to make myself and especially those I was able to do with André as the pilot.
At this point, I knew that I could safely and easily make it to Echarlens. There is an Airbnb there that I wanted to book. So I started a booking request, but it was never confirmed. Nevertheless, I listed this Airbnb as my destination and eventually found it. Unfortunately, I received a rejection, which forced me to continue hiking to Bulle. That was another 5+ km. In Bulle, it wasn't easy to find a hotel, especially since there aren't many. So I took the first one I could find and took the room that was offered to me for 155 CHF. A very steep price that I didn't really want to spend. But the tiredness was greater than this obstacle. Now I'm already lying in bed writing this blog. After this, I'm sure I'm tired enough to sleep deeply and soundly.
