A tree grows in Brooklyn*

Pubblicato: 22.05.2017

When visiting New York, one usually means Manhattan. If, for cost reasons, one stays in Brooklyn like us, it can be annoying. Every trip to the sights takes almost an hour in always crowded subways. The lines are sclerotic and are currently being temporarily closed for repairs. It is not worth taking a trip back to the hotel in between.

Too bad actually. Brooklyn is worth a visit of its own, at least a whole day visit. We hit it on a Sunday. After the travel stress of the last few days, it's pure relaxation. Relaxed New Yorkers enjoy their Sunday omelettes, read the Times in the park or browse a flea market under the Manhattan Bridge (DUMBO). And the best view of Manhattan is from here.

* 'A Tree Grows in Brooklyn': novel and film from the 1940s. The book was a book club classic in the 1950s, also in Germany.
