Every day rice. Little vegetables. Rarely salad. Very often red beans. Just like sometimes I need a different breakfast, today I craved a change in "dinner" - as Silvana calls it. Sea bass fillet on a salad bed with avocado, tomato, and onions with dark toast. Along with a freshly squeezed juice. Heaven, I enjoyed that! I just get what the family eats. Although I suspect that they occasionally have something special after the paying roommates are fed.
Normally, I eat lunch at the project. One component is always rice. Sticky, lumpy rice. I wouldn't do any better with 220 portions. And then Jackie, the cook, makes a few very delicious things. Like a salad with beetroot, for example. Or these vegetarian meatballs. But also red beans all the time. It's cheap and healthy. And I think she does a great job. She cooks all alone for so many people, with the simplest utensils on a wood-fired stove with an open flame. No induction.
If this continues, Gustavo and I will become real friends. He has a lot of fun with math and beams with every solved task. His discipline is still not optimal, but above average. Hopefully, I haven't praised him too early.
The photo was taken at a lunch at the market. Strangely, the broth and the solid components of the vegetable soup were served separately.
Sultry 29 degrees with a light wind from the northeast. Almost cloudless.
