The Decision

Pubblicato: 27.01.2018

Approximately two years ago, the question arose: 'Whether we really want to do it ...' and 'When would be the best time to do it ...'

If you just talk about it without really thinking about it, such a decision is relatively easy. You can decide on the spot and that's it.

But when it's really time to think about it, you suddenly start to think about whether something like this could really work.

Now let me first tell you what it's all about. The question arose for us back then whether we wanted to go to China for two years. My husband, who had been traveling to China on a weekly basis, should now work there permanently for two years.

At first, it sounds adventurous and you immediately want to go along. But the decision for the spouse is not that easy. After all, I was in a fixed, non-terminable employment relationship for many years.

So, when you're stuck in such a - let's call it a dilemma - the decision is not easy. Shaped by parental upbringing, you constantly have this sense of security and want to know that your future is in safe hands. Don't do anything extraordinary.

'What if ...' - no, you can't do that, what about your future?

But honestly, no one can plan their future, because in life, unforeseen events always happen, with which you never count and after which you always either start over or have to change your course a bit in order to pursue new goals. Everything is constantly in motion.

If you want to live, you have to make decisions and then implement them.

If you want to go to the right on your path and only one leg aligns in that direction, you won't move forward but stay in one place. The other leg has to go in the same direction to move forward.

What I mean by that is: Once you've made a decision, you follow that path with all the consequences that arise from it and don't look back.

Said and done. The decision was made. Our travel date was finally set. I could start planning. Everything organizational had to be taken care of. Employer, insurance, employment agency, family, and much more.

In the end, we managed everything and it was ready to go ...
