So after I got off in Puerto Viejo, I found myself in a whole different world. Surfers everywhere, reggae music, and relaxed people... a little paradise. Unfortunately, the rescue station is 5 km away, but it's manageable by bike.
When I arrived at my hostel, I was put in a girls' room, but they're cool too, so everything is relaxed.
The first encounters were with Dutch, Americans, Danes, Germans, Venezuelans, yeah, a colorful bunch of people who want to do good for animals, really nice!
But I really bonded with Lilly and Korbi, both started with me and off we went to the Jaguar Rescue Center.
Every morning at the meeting, everyone gets assigned a task, which can vary depending on gender because monkeys can be picky.
So the men go into the forest with the young monkeys, while women deal more with the baby monkeys.
But unfortunately, cleaning paths and the kitchen are also part of the daily routine of such an organization.
But during the day, there is always variety, so you can go from sloths in the morning to fetching fresh seawater for the giant turtles in the afternoon.
Yes, each animal requires different treatment, and it's remarkable what they do here.
Did you know that a sloth takes almost 30 days to digest a damn leaf? No wonder they're so chill.
I've already tested the nightlife, and it's quite sweaty. There's a bar where different artists and dancers perform, then a live band plays, and then there's a program where you go on stage and everyone dances salsa together.
I tried it for about 2 minutes and it's not really my thing... 😂
But then we continued to a club where the ladies just get free drinks and where everyone just dances wildly.
And then on my day off, I went to Manzanillo where I saw the most beautiful beach of my life.
No people, just palm trees and a perfect sandy beach... sometimes I feel like one of the characters from Money Heist who has gone into hiding and is enjoying life.
Every moment counts!
