Day 4 of Quarantine

When I woke up, it was already very bright, the sun was shining. So, I thought it would be very warm. But as soon as I stepped out of the house, I quickly realized that I would need a jacket because the wind was icy and strong.

In the morning, I hiked to Rivedalsstølen, a collection of small cabins in the middle of a valley.

The trail was more challenging than yesterday, but also more beautiful, as it went through a small valley where a stream with many waterfalls flowed idyllically and cotton grass bloomed in the meadow.

After 50 minutes of ascent, I reached the cabins and lay down on the picnic table to soak up some sun. Then I explored the cabins and started my descent back to the house by car, where I started preparing my lunch.

Meanwhile, I learned that my German students would like to visit me on Wednesday.

In the afternoon, there will be another hike, but that will be the subject of another blog entry.

The Difference Between Quarantine and Isolation

If you are infected with the coronavirus, you must go into isolation. You are not allowed to go shopping, leave the house, and should preferably have your own bathroom within the house and not leave your room, definitely reduce contact with your roommates.

In quarantine, you should not go shopping (I don't do it at all), but you are allowed to freely interact with your roommates and go hiking. However, you should always keep distance and try not to meet people, that's why I always leave relatively early or when other people have to work.
