Springbrook National Park

Publié: 08.03.2017

During my parents' visit to Australia for the past 2.5 weeks, we naturally did many enjoyable activities together. One of them was a trip to Springbrook National Park, which is about a 1-hour drive from Surfers Paradise and located in the hinterland of the Gold Coast.

Compared to Lamington National Park, I personally liked Springbrook National Park better. The landscape with waterfalls, streams, and vegetation was more impressive to me there. I really wanted to finally swim in a rainforest pool. However, when we came across a pool where swimming was allowed and I dipped my hand into the very cold water, I quickly changed my mind ;-).

After our hike, we drove for about 30 minutes to the Natural Bridge. It's a waterfall that runs into a sort of cave. This cave is especially popular with visitors in the evening and at night because it's filled with hundreds of fireflies. The path around the waterfall was only 1 - 2 km long, so we quickly walked around everything.

On the way back from our trip, we made a stop at a place. I had received a tip that there were fields behind a high school where kangaroos can be found. So we wandered around to reach these fields, but we always ended up on the school grounds, which was always in our way. After being observed by a teacher from the high school, we quickly looked for the exit. Eventually, we found the path outside the school grounds and discovered the wild kangaroos in the field.
