69th day - Sept 15th: Fagaras - No conversation

Publié: 17.09.2022

After breakfast, I took some time to sort out the photos before heading to Fagaras, my destination for the day. The city of Fagaras gave its name to the Romanian highlands. The highlands are part of the Carpathian mountain range, so I had to cycle from the west to Transylvania, otherwise I would have had to conquer a big pass.

When I arrived in Fagaras, the parish office gave me a place to sleep in the community room, as all the guest rooms were occupied. But the priest is away until evening. When I spoke to him on the phone, we agreed to have a conversation about the community work at 9 pm. Very late, but I adapt to his schedule. In the meantime, I explored the city and its impressive castle. Apart from the castle, there is no special attraction. The main attraction is the nearby Fagaras highlands, which I hiked with my son a few years ago.

The Protestant church and the community house of Fagaras are hidden behind a row of houses.

In the evening, I patiently waited for the priest for our conversation at 9 pm, but unfortunately he did not come. Maybe he had another appointment. So I waited until 10:30 pm and then went to sleep, because the next day I wanted to set off early to the center of Transylvania, to Sibiu.
