I am awakened by the soft clicking of the rain falling on the roof of the motorhome. It is very cloudy and everything is gray as far as the eye can see. After breakfast, we pack everything up and head to nearby Gythio. A small port town, today is market day, it's drizzling all the time... We buy bread and traditional Greek pastries (as we are told) from a bakery, unfortunately I can't remember the names, one looks like fingers, as it turns out, it is bread dough fried in fat and the other one looks like these Swiss Carnival cakes soaked in honey... Both very delicious... When the rain gets heavier, we have a coffee in a small bar in the port and then head to Areopoli, a small town on the back of a mountain. It has so much charm, with cafes and taverns lined up one after the other. In the courtyard of a tavern, everything is occupied except for one table, it looks cozy and so we take the last free table and enjoy a delicious meal. Somehow we seem to be bringing the rain with us, it was sunny earlier, but now it's raining here too and getting cloudy. We put aside our plan to drive to Cape Tenaro due to the weather and head to Stoupa, as this is the only campsite around. It is a bit old-fashioned, but the sanitary facilities are clean, that's the main thing. Stoupa also has a sandy beach, which is a plus. The coast of Mani is very rugged and there are many pebble beaches. The sandy beach just below the campsite is immediately tested and approved...
