There are no oat flakes left, instead Pati cooks semolina; a kind of wheat-based pudding.
I spend the morning reading. At 12 o'clock I drive over to Mitico. Juliette is also coming along and gets off at the ferry dock, she is traveling to Torres del Paine. As often happens, the 12 o'clock boat departure is delayed, so Juliette and I wait with Pati and the park guests on the landing rock. The waiting time drags on with forced small talk. Pati and Juliette don't get along very well.
When we arrive at the Mitico Lodge, I can do my laundry, very handy just before I continue my journey. Then I sit on the balcony of the staff house to use the Wi-Fi. Yard dog Gaucho comes by and lets me pet him. The interns come with a bag of Manjar for us volunteers in the park. Manjar, also known as Dulce de Leche, is a cream made from sugar and milk that enjoys a cult status similar to Nutella in Germany. For lunch, we have lentil soup with pieces of pork that I struggle to fish out. I'm far from full from eating that.
Pati takes the 3 pm boat over to Mitico and I return to the park.
I bake a huge batch of Pancitos, which Lars, Porter and I enjoy with tuna and mayo, as well as the freshly purchased Manjar. Afterwards, I enjoy a warm shower made possible by the oven's residual heat.
