In Turkistan, the Silk Road reaches its destination. The Ahmed Yasawi Mausoleum and the underground Friday Mosque are World Heritage Sites and really worth seeing. The museum in the mausoleum is nicely done and also labeled in English. The pre-Islamic era of the Sultans is simply integrated there. But mass tourism will still accompany us in the next few days. The price list distinguishes between locals, neighboring states, and those further away. If this is already done officially, it is no wonder that even the police try to rip off. We have already been targeted twice, the first time we were asked for 50 €, the second time a demand of 200 € and a lot of a brouhaha. And at some point, the amounts switch to dollars and the price drops, in the end, you pay a fraction. Or if you have enough time, not at all.
