Day 3, hike near the Ecomuseo
The Internet is indeed endless, especially when it comes to nicely described hiking trails. A suitable route for me at a beginner level starts at the Ecomuseo El Tanque. I can...

I have been freezing in the evenings for three days now, and yet I came here specifically to soak up the sun and warmth. I’ve heard it’s supposed to be warmer down south. Yes, it’s also more touristy, but that can mean a lot of things. And if so many people want to go there, there must be beautiful aspects, I think to myself. They don’t fly thousands of kilometers just to not enjoy it a little bit. That’s what I thought. On the way there, there are also more beaches that I can check out to get a better picture. During my first detour from the highway towards the coast, I end up at an alternative kind of beach, the Playa del Puertito de Adeje. That should fit me a bit, right? NOPE! Definitely not the clientele in whose company I would feel comfortable. The atmosphere at that small beach, between blaring music from the bar, barking dogs, screaming children, and motor yachts that occasionally come into the bay – also with music and dancing young people – is just not for me. If it’s fun for someone else, great. Have fun, I’m happy for you, but count me out.
Likewise, the situation in Los Christianos was creepy for me. The only differences were the size, the promenade with shops, the crowd, and the danger of being run over. Yes, you read that right. There are quite a few “electric mobility vehicles for seniors and people with disabilities” zipping around with considerable speed. The most common cause of the impairment is neither age nor any physical condition, but rather sheer laziness, often peacefully coexisting with the obesity that results from it.
I’d much rather take the cooler temperatures of the north.
