Off to the Solling
Who would have thought: for once, there was no ice to scrape off the car window. It was already 9:35 AM when we left the courtyard to head towards Göttingen.
The weather presented itself in a spring-like manner, with sunshine only slightly clouded by Saharan dust. Nevertheless, the view along the way was quite lovely. Here, the trees are still as bare as in Baden-Württemberg. However, the snowdrops were still blooming here, while they had already withered at home.
Our first stop was the Ölmühle Solling in Boffzen. The journey was a bit longer than expected, partly due to a slow Bundeswehr convoy in front of us. At the oil mill, several shoppers were already busy sampling oils, vinegars, and other goods. I also needed assistance from the knowledgeable staff to find the right one. The espresso was just as complimentary as the tea, milk coffee, or plain coffee. By the way, motorhome drivers can stay here for free.
Then came a varied route through the woods and over Solling hills. Quickly stopping in Uslar to shop and taking our holiday apartment in Schoningen. The old farmhouse has several apartments; ours was accessible via a very beautiful old, albeit steep, staircase. Well-equipped kitchen/dining area, modern small bathroom, with fly screens on all windows. And exceptionally affordable. What more could a guest want?
See you soon!
