2. Day at the Baltic Sea

Travemünde Day 2

Who would have thought that it would be this warm (34*) again for the second day in a row? What helps the best? Right: hours on the sea or by the sea. I also got to see a group of jellyfish next to the pier - along with many small jellyfish.

So we made our way to Scharbeutz with the HANSE CAT. This catamaran took us as a ferry at 12:00, and we returned to Travemünde at 15:00. We saw the Brodtener Ufer, which we had hiked yesterday, now from the water side. It was impressive what wind and water can do.

The crossing took about 45 minutes and was very pleasant for me. The breeze wasn't as cold as I had feared. Scharbeutz had a nearly finished pier to offer, which was being vigorously worked on. It will be longer than the pier in Haffkrug. Here too, a lot of people were in the water – with and without sports equipment. The water was surprisingly clear, without jellyfish or anything similar.

The place is, like everywhere, dotted with shops of all kinds as well as

cafés, restaurants, fish stalls, and even a GOSCH has settled on the beach. In addition, there are plenty of hotels and holiday apartments. Hopefully not as expensive as Sylt, so that people can still afford to live here.

After delicious coffee and cake, or rice pudding, I then visited the beach church that was mentioned on the ship. I was somewhat disappointed by the result. A simple church building from the year 1957 stood over the door - as well as a notice about a concert in the BEACH CHURCH. I was actually more pleased about the houses with green roofs by the beach.

Back through the shady park to the pier, which also serves as a landing stage, and we were already on our way back to Travemünde.

One more time to the TIEFBLAU restaurant for a beer, quickly got ready for the evening, and off to a delicious fish dinner at the FISCHKOMBÜSE. It was delicious again! And those were our lovely, albeit very warm, days in Travemünde.
