South Sweden Tour - Day 15

Today, we specifically set our alarm as we wanted to get to the Husqvarna Museum early, since we were also planning to head directly to our next destination afterwards.

So off to the bathroom, had a proper breakfast, and we were ready to go.

The history of Husqvarna began in 1689 with the production of muskets in the city of Huskvarna. This is also where the logo derives from, representing a rifle barrel viewed from the front.

In 1877, the engineer Wilhelm Tham became the director of the company. Under his leadership, the range of products manufactured was significantly expanded. In 1896, the first bicycle of the Husqvarna brand was produced.

The company also became known as a manufacturer of sewing machines. Many household appliances were also developed and produced by Husqvarna.

Over time, many of the product lines were sold off. Today, Husqvarna is only a manufacturer of power equipment for professional users and hobby gardeners, forestry equipment, and protective gear.

The Husqvarna Museum was established on April 27, 1993, as the Husqvarna Factory Museum, arising from the initiative of retired Husqvarna employees who wanted to create a museum for all the company's products.

In the factory museum, centuries-old Swedish technology history can be seen.

On an exhibition area of about 2,400 square meters, you can find bicycles, motorcycles, sewing machines, household appliances, stoves, cast products, weapons, and many other collections. It was very interesting to see this.

After visiting the museum, we continued towards Norrköping. We drove quite a long stretch alongside Lake Vättern before the road near Ödeshög led us away from the lake.

Since it started to rain again, we completed most of the journey on the highway.

We settled into our spot for the next 3 nights in Kolmården, about 25 km north of Norrköping.

Fortunately, the rest of the afternoon and evening remained dry, except for a few raindrops. However, those were enough to paint a rainbow in the sky.

In the evening, we enjoyed a nice barbecue and relaxed otherwise.

Der Firmenname war mir bekannt, dass die aber so viele Produkte hergestellt haben, wusste ich nicht. Das war bestimmt interessant im Museum. Und einen schönen Standplatz habt ihr auch ausgesucht. LG Marlis
