Papeete - Auckland - Coromandel

After a few days of silence, here comes the next report from our little journey to the Southern Hemisphere.

On February 14, 2026, we flew from Tahiti 🌸 at around 9:10 AM, arriving in Auckland 🥝 on February 15, 2026, at approximately 1:30 PM after just under five hours of flight .... crossing the date line makes it possible.

Entry into New Zealand and picking up the super tiny camper went quite smoothly, allowing us to reach our first accommodation on our motorhome trip by around 6:00 PM: The Highland Lodge, very close to the Karangahake Gorge, a former gold mining area. What can one say about this accommodation? Simply fantastic. Very large, modern rooms and many equally great communal spaces like a kitchen, living room with fireplace, terrace, hot tub, pizza oven, and more. Also, Max - the host - provided great information and stories about the region. The only downside: No phone or internet .... but heavenly peace.

The attached pictures give an incomplete impression of this wonderful accommodation .... and soon we will report on our excursions on the Coromandel Peninsula.
