In the morning, Tokyo greets us in white and heavy snowfall at 2°C.
Japan has a centralized monarchy, with the Emperor on the Chrysanthemum Throne and an elected Parliament.
The 150,000 m2 area where the Imperial Palace is located can only be glimpsed from the outside.
Instead, we immerse ourselves in the Shinto religion with a visit to the oldest temple/shrine, Asakusa Kaminarimon, featuring impressive entrance gates, the Nakamisedori, and the typical red lanterns. The traditions of external and internal purification before each visit to a sacred site (temple/shrine) are also practiced.
A highlight is the 333-meter tall Tokyo Tower, built in 1958 and inspired by the Eiffel Tower.
In the evening, we leave Tokyo towards Kobe.
