Not far from the capital Santiago, there are two cities that could hardly be more different from each other. They are Vina Del Mar and Valparaiso. The journey to these two cities also passes through the Casablanca Valley.
Vina Del Mar, the cosmopolitan seaside resort with many beaches and parks
 is known as the garden city with the famous flower clock, many elegant hotels in a well-maintained environment. The local specialty, 'Pisco sour' made from grape brandy and lemon, is of course a must-try.
On the other hand, Valparaiso is the city of art and culture, as well as music (the home of the Bolero). The city is built on 50 hills and once had 30 funiculars (many of which are unfortunately no longer operational), and is divided into the upper and lower city. Art is everywhere, especially through paintings and graffiti on walls and façades. And of course, the historic center of Plaza Sotomayor.
