On 17.5, Tim and I walked to the city center for about 1 hour. There we bought a tourist card for 2 days. With this card, you can visit all museums in Reykjavik, 7 thermal baths, the zoo, and use the ferry to Videy Island and public transportation. We bought this card and dated it for the next day at 10:00 am. Afterwards, we walked around the streets a bit. I love these little colorful wooden houses. Everything feels so cozy. We had a coffee, talked for a long time, and watched the people and streets. Then we visited a church and admired the huge organ. I have never seen such a big organ before. On the way back, we walked along the water and let the arctic wind blow around our ears. Then we walked back for 1 hour, and that's when it started raining heavily. We arrived home and were completely soaked. We made ourselves a tea and started cooking comfortably. We had fried potatoes with beans :D
On 18.05, there was a big program planned because we wanted to make the most of the tourist card. So, we took the bus to the city and on the way from the bus stop, it started hailing heavily. We were already completely drenched and cold when we arrived at the museum. The museum itself was not the most exciting, which is why we left after just about an hour. We decided to spend the rest of the day at a thermal bath. So, we went back home, got our swimwear, and went to the first thermal bath. There, you had to wash without a bikini first using a special soap. Bathing in a thermal bath is very common for Icelanders and is part of their culture. It is also very healthy for the immune system. And I think it also just toughens them up. We were already freezing from the changing room to the pool. But then it was cool to sit in the warm, sometimes almost hot, water, even though it was cold and windy outside. We stayed for about 1 hour, then we got ready and decided to go to a second thermal bath. On the way there, we passed by a super cute looking café again. It was called Emilia and the Cool Kids. We had a coffee and I ate an amazing cinnamon roll. After that, we stayed in the thermal bath for another hour and were pretty warmed up and exhausted. We went home and cooked spaghetti with tomato sauce.
May 19th turned out to be not so eventful. The weather was terrible. It rained and windy all day. We decided to go to an art museum in the afternoon. It was really...different :D And I didn't really understand the art, but everyone has different tastes. We were there for about 1 hour and walked back to the bus and went home.
And today, on May 20th, it's similar. We slept in and have been at home all day :D
