Day 6: Short sprint to Soltau

Published: 14.08.2020

Last night the hotel chef treated us very well; in the morning we were curious if he would treat us well again at the breakfast buffet. Luckily, he wasn't there, so we didn't have to leave the hotel like two round balls filled with all sorts of goodies. Instead, we rolled out on our bikes around 10am towards Soltau. Quickly passing by the bird park, we rode on decent bike paths onto a country road, where Janina spotted two deer on the side of the road! When we stopped, we were watched and observed by the two deer :) We managed to take a few photos. Then they dashed away, and during a quiet period of traffic, they crossed to the other side of the road. Besides that, we noticed numerous signs from property owners protesting against natural gas drilling (probably fracking).

Once we arrived in Soltau, we spent a few hours in a small nice cafe (Hilde's Cafe). At 5pm, we arrived right on time for check-in at the beautiful vacation rental 'Surek.' We and our dirty laundry were looking forward to the washing machine! We managed to finish two loads of laundry late into the evening. We then distributed the fresh clothes throughout the apartment to dry, as always :)) For dinner, we had pasta with tomato sauce and oregano! Delicious!
