31st Day 28 in Santiago

Today, I actually wanted to sleep in, but that didn't quite work out. I woke up at 5 o'clock, but stayed in bed until 7. Then I got up because I was hungry. I walked around a bit and then went to my favorite churros place at 8, treating myself to churros with hot chocolate. Truly a delight. There, I met a woman with her dog who is also a pilgrim. She has moved to Spain. After chatting for a while, I set off and briefly went to the supermarket. Then it started to rain more heavily, so I headed back to my accommodation. I rested in bed for a while and then took a long hot shower. It was really refreshing. Afterwards, I wanted to go to my room, but my key card didn’t work. So I went downstairs to ask at the reception, but no one was there. I waited there for a while. Then I met 2 people I had encountered on my way to various hostels. Additionally, I ran into the man I recently shared a room with here at the hostel. We had a little conversation too. Finally, someone from the hostel came and issued me a new card. I actually wanted to head out, but since it was pouring rain, I lay down for a bit and then really left around 1 PM. I went to a large shopping center. It was quite a walk, and I always forget how steep it is in Santiago. Once I arrived, I checked everything out, and of course, I was bombarded with supposed Black Friday deals. I went into Carrefour and got something to drink. The center is truly surprisingly large with 4 floors. It also has a cinema, which is the main reason for my visit. I got a ticket for Gladiator 2 for later. Then I went to the 'food street' on the fourth floor and really wavered about whether to get something. A place called 'Muere la Pasta' I know from Valencia, which offers all-you-can-eat for €14, and the great thing is that alongside pasta, pizzas, and salads, drinks like soft drinks, hot beverages, and also beer, along with a large dessert selection like sweet pizzas or a soft serve ice cream machine, are included in the price. What a dream, but I didn't want to overindulge. So I just had a coffee and waited for the cinema to open. It’s funny that they sell burgers in the cinema. The auditorium was large and the technology was in good shape. Great sound system. The movie was really well done, although I definitely need to rewatch the first part. The film was in Spanish, and I understood most of it, but I had to concentrate a bit and didn’t understand everything, but I do enjoy going to the cinema in other cities. After that, I quickly went back to the supermarket and got some hummus and baguette, then headed home. The rain had started again, but that’s nothing new by now. In the hostel, I then ate and laid down. Tomorrow will be exhausting because I’m heading to Porto, where my flight to Hamburg is the following morning.

In that sense, I will really sleep in tomorrow or at least stay in bed.
