Oktoberfest in Costa Rica – where else?

It's Sunday, 6:00 PM, and it's been pitch black for over an hour. It doesn't usually get dark until around 6:00 PM, but with rain and thunderstorms, it can be dark all day. We've just come from shopping – the shops are open here even on Sundays – but unfortunately, the traffic is chaotic and the roads are packed. We'd be lost without a GPS.

But now to yesterday's Oktoberfest. It took place in the community hall next to our apartment, so we enjoyed it for quite a while. It's really not our thing, but we had to make do. There were 120-130 people there, many in lederhosen and dirndls. But I met some interesting people again, with whom we'll certainly be in contact again. After the church service, we accompanied a church council member to her house so we could see a bit of San José. She lives on a hillside and has a beautiful, idyllic garden. She was able to lend me a mattress topper, which I desperately need for my back. Otherwise, we don't get the impression that the city of San José is worth visiting.

It still takes a lot of energy to manage daily life, especially since I, at least, came here in dire need of rest. And if things get really tough, I always have the option of flying back. But on the other hand, we're experiencing so many exciting things here and are experiencing a much more intense and connected relationship as a couple. And we have people by our side who help us with problems and are so incredibly grateful that we're here.
