Matara - Bad weather, no whales, but Salties (saltwater crocodiles)
The next section of the route was completed very quickly, it's only about 50 kilometers from Tangalle to Matara. We could squeeze in a sight to see. In this case, it was the...

In the evening at our hut in Matara, we found a huge hermit crab. A hefty creature.
In the morning, we arranged for a TukTuk driver (through the Pick Me App) to pick us up and take us to the train station. Tickets cost €3 / person - it was supposed to take 2 hours. It gradually got hot, and the train departed with only a slight delay. We were waiting for another train, and it felt like all the passengers boarded our train, making it crowded. What was planned as a 2-hour journey turned into four hours, and we were clearly on the sweat express. If someone had offered a sauna there, we wouldn't have been surprised. The heat was quite exhausting, but it was manageable. Upon arriving in Colombo, we ordered a car through the Pick Me App (like Uber, but cheaper) to take us further to Negombo. Everything went smoothly, and at the last hotel, a refreshing pool awaited us. Later, we packed, prepared everything for the return trip, and enjoyed another delicious dinner by the sea.
Conclusion:
Sri Lanka - we have embraced you in our hearts. Thanks to Amila (Croos Tours) for the TukTuk (our 'Rocket') and the great support, even with the small technical issue and the minor accident. The journey with the TukTuk was a truly special experience, and we would do it again anytime. The independence and the wonderful experiences along the way will never be forgotten. The country is so diverse, and the people are so helpful and kind (except for the usual transport mafia and the people who approach you in tourist hotspots), and the nature is breathtaking.
The way we did it, we loved it immensely.
However, it's important to mention that Sri Lanka is not unreservedly beautiful. Particularly densely populated areas can be a bit overwhelming, and in some corners, you see a lot of pollution. One should choose places in Sri Lanka wisely to avoid disappointment. We feel like we made many right choices and are thrilled. We experienced Sri Lanka with an incredible number of wonderful experiences.
Thank you, Sri Lanka!
