Back in Negombo - Our TukTuk adventure comes to an end
In the evening at our hut in Matara, we found a huge hermit crab. A hefty creature. In the morning, we arranged for a TukTuk driver (through the Pick Me App) to pick us up and...

Off to Thailand!
This time it's just about relaxing. No big adventures. If possible, some diving. We will see.
The journey from Düsseldorf to Phuket via Qatar went smoothly. In Qatar at the airport, 2 large beers, a glass of wine for 49 Euro. You don't treat yourself otherwise. The arrival went well, the luggage is there, and the pre-booked taxi worked out fine too. A small hostel near Phuket Old Town. Completely fine. After unpacking, we explored the Old Town. A tourist fair like everywhere, but tolerable. Strolled around nicely, ate delicious food, and digested the long journey. Back to the hostel in the evening. No water. No shower, no toilet. Informed them. How can we have 30 minutes of patience? Apologies were offered. So we went around the corner for a drink and later the water came back on. The room was actually quite okay, but the Thais around the corner were in a weekend mood and drank whisky until morning, then turned up the music at 4:30 AM. Even the roosters weren't awake yet. Then, however..... we took a taxi to Rassada Pier, where we will take a speedboat to the island of Kho Ngai. It went well. Calm seas. Transfer in Koh Lanta. About 2.5 hours. Everything on schedule. In Kho Ngai, we took a longtail boat for a short trip since the tide didn't allow for further progress. At the Seafood Guesthouse, we got a small bungalow at the far end, but it was quiet. We liked it. Very simple room. But everything is there. Except for power upon arrival. A little more patience, they worked diligently on it until the electricity came back. All good. Unpacking. The beach life begins. The island is very beautiful and the view is grand. The biggest daytime activity is to look at how great it looks here. Paradise is not perfect. There is always some trash. It gets washed ashore from the sea. As always, we collect some too. But you can really spend a few days here comfortably. Unfortunately, I (Sascha) notice that I probably brought a cold from Germany. We are doing 2 dives with a diving school. I can still manage this with 2 ibuprofen. The diving was just okay. Currently, visibility is poor, and we were not very satisfied with the guide and the diving school. However, there were some small things to see, and we were underwater again after a long time. However, the cold with cough hit me hard after diving. Luckily, I was still able to enjoy the beach a bit. From the house reef, we were actually positively surprised while snorkeling. There were still several hard corals and plenty of fish. Unfortunately, it was always a bit murky. But there was bad weather here for a long time before we arrived. We really enjoy Thai food and can even observe hornbills directly on the beach. They are quite amusing. Kho Ngai has brought us a few really nice days. It was great here.
