The Body Flying Center

In mid-May, it was once again time for an outing.
First on the agenda was a visit to the Hurricane Factory in Berlin. “Skydiving for the old,” as Ines later called it.
The Hurricane Factory was a body flying center, essentially a vertical wind tunnel where one could fly and float. Sebb had gifted this experience to his wife for her 40th birthday. And what can we say, it was amazing!
About 10 years ago, we had gone tandem skydiving, which was incredibly impressive at the time, but Sebb didn't handle the braking when opening the parachute very well and had serious circulatory issues still two hours later.
Body flying had clear advantages:
⁃ One didn't have to jump from several thousand meters in a plane.
⁃ You avoided the “braking” when opening the parachute. This was good for circulation and the spinal discs in the back.
⁃ One could fly multiple times in a very short period. In one hour, we flew at least 5 times.
⁃ It was a bit cheaper.
Whether it was energetically better to let the 40 MW electric turbines run for a few minutes, or whether starting and landing with kerosene would have been cheaper, we couldn't really assess in the end.
The “original” had its own charm. Jumping from an open cabin door at 4,000 m was indeed incomparable.
We had a ton of fun and kicked off our vacation with this experience.

From Berlin, we headed straight to the Spreewald in Lübbenau.
This time we hadn't made any reservations and, of course, we had bad luck with the first campsite we aimed for. Fully booked.
It was Sunday evening, and we were sure we'd find something somewhere. Maybe.
So, we turned on the phones and looked for something nearby. After 10 minutes of driving, we found a very nice pitch for Gary.
Behind the castle park, there was a 4**** campsite, and we were lucky enough to check in at 5:50 PM, as reception closed at 6:00 PM.
It was a real “glamping site” as it featured a nice pitch with electricity and water connections, as well as shower and Wi-Fi included.
Both of us weren't eager to cook, so we went out in the evening to look for something warm to eat.
