From Lake Pukaki to Kaikoura
19.11.22
The early bird.... etc. We are awake early again and after a rainy night we head to Lake Tekapo where we have breakfast overlooking the lake.
There are toilets here that talk 🫣 The weather is not good today, so we drive directly to Christchurch and not the scenic route through the mountains, as you can't see anything anyway. We make a short stop in Rolleston because the water pump on our van is broken.
Since it's pouring rain, we are making progress today and driving directly to Kaikoura.
We find a nice spot by the sea. The beach consists of black pebbles.
Otherwise, the place doesn't have much to offer and we book a whale-watching trip for tomorrow. That has been on my bucket list for a long time. Plus, you get 80% refunded if no whale is sighted.
We spend the evening cooking and chatting with Stephen, our English camper neighbor, with a view of the sea and the sound of the waves 🌊
