Kings Canyon

Today was the day for Kings Canyon, and after taking quite a long time to drive through Sequoia National Park yesterday, we decided to take the scenic route around it today. To be honest, we had imagined the journey to be a bit easier… Because even the detour was extremely winding and narrow, and it took us 2.5 hours to even arrive at Kings Canyon.

But like yesterday, the drive was an experience in itself… Although it felt quite long.

Almost at the end of Kings Canyon, we took a beautiful trail… It was recommended to us by a park ranger we met along the way. It was really lovely, and the canyon itself is quite impressive… Even though we had imagined it to be a bit narrower.

But regardless, it was still beautiful.

Since we now knew how long the return trip would take, we set off back home right after this trail. This time we decided to drive through Sequoia National Park, which turned out to be a good decision. The route wasn’t necessarily shorter, but it was easier to navigate. Plus, we got to see parts of the park that we hadn’t managed to see the day before.

After what felt like 300,000 curves and some extreme slowpokes, we arrived back in Three Rivers in the evening. There we immediately popped into a Greek tavern. It was a real Greek place and not one of those German-Greek joints with gigantic meat platters… Instead, there were delicious mezes and very authentic other dishes. We really hadn’t expected anything like this and it was definitely worth it. The food was super tasty… As you can see in the photos, we were so hungry that we didn’t even take a photo of the main dishes. All the plates were empty.😎

It was once again a tiring day, and after writing and reading some travel reports, we went to bed quite early.
