Death Valley II

Today we got up early again because it will be hot here :) and the lighting conditions are better in the morning or late afternoon. By 8:00 we were indeed at the parking lot of the Mesquite Dunes… and only 3 cars!!! YES

As we had read, it's best to immediately take off your shoes and go barefoot for the special experience… which we did. Really very fine sand… and after a few meters… Heiko had some really annoying splinters in the sole of his foot. Exactly, you guessed it… shoes back on ;)

The dune itself was amazing, the light patterns, with the shadows, the vastness… and it was really worth getting up so early. And when we were on our way back, it got really crowded. So (once again) we chose the right time slot. Sometimes it just works out…

Afterwards, we headed to breakfast. Everything was great, and the waitress even provided light therapy in the form of glow sticks and sweets. Absolutely amazing :))))

Then we quickly went to Mosaic Canyon as we wanted to see it before the midday heat and it conveniently is nearly next to the resort with just about 6 minutes of travel time. And wonderfully, we were indeed the only ones there… Great feeling! Because usually it's quite busy here.

Back at the resort, we grabbed our things for the pool and were the first to arrive there. We spent the rest of the day very relaxed; we were the last to leave the pool. You can actually use it until midnight and lie there.

On the way back to the room, we passed by the many ravens that are here. It's a bit spooky, you really have to think of Alfred Hitchcock. But they didn’t do anything, haha.

For dinner, we ate at the saloon again… Honestly, there is no other option. But it was delicious! :))

Once again, admired the incredible starry sky here, we'll miss that.

And tomorrow we will continue towards the national parks.
